How does one go about getting a title for a car without a dash tag in NC?
Any info on this would be much appreciated.

What's the car and Where in NC are you? I'm in Randolph county.

If you have a fender and/or door tag, you should be able to get a bonded title. An officer from the state dept. of vehicle fraud will have to come inspect the vehicle. As long as all the numbers match the body stampings, you're halfway there after the inspection.

They will then check the state and national databases to make sure the car is not stolen, then you'll have to buy a bond. This is where I get fuzzy on the details, but it's a lot like bonding a house trailer, and similar to a bail bond. Ask for the info at your nearest DMV or it might be on the NCDMV website. NC is a tough state to deal with on title issues, so be prepared for some amount of runaround.

Feel free to PM me for more info and my phone #.

You should find the last 8 digits of the vin stamped on the upper yoke of the radiator core support facing the top tank of the radiator and also on the top of the cowl in front of the windshield by the fresh air intakes. Both stamps will be left of center from the drivers side and similar in size to the stamp that would have been found on your vin tag. also look for the decal that would have the full vin and build date on it, located on the latch side of your original drivers side door. If it still has its original interior check for the build sheet which is most commonly found tucked up under one of the seats springs.
