I’m converting a 71 Barracuda to a 70 and would like to swap my decent 71 fenders (no gills) for a set of 70 fenders in similar condition.

I’m on the Olympic peninsula of Wa state and willing to travel a reasonable distance. PM me through this site. Thanks!

I’m no expert on 71 cars, but the 70 fenders have a stamped steel mount for the (single) headlight bucket that is spot-welded to the front of the fender.

I believe the 71 fenders mount the dual headlights to a separate piece that is bolted to the front of the fender.

I see the 71 headlight mounting piece is reproduced, but the 70 mount is not. At least, not that I have found.

The aftermarket makes it easy to convert 70 fenders to 71 configuration, but the reverse is not true.

If I’m mistaken with any of the above, I would be delighted to hear it!

Sounds about right, and the headlight brackets weld on, not bolted so another step and more time to convert them.

Got it. Yeah, you a definitely swimming against the current changing a 71 to a 70, instead of the other way around. Maybe a PNW thing.

Good luck with the hunt.

You can bolt 72-74 cuda single headlight buckets into the 71 fender. Then you will just have to locate the outer headlight bezel trim screws.
I thought about checking inventory and a trade, but swapping problems made me say no.

72 buckets
