trunk torsion springs

Has anyone moved or tightened the trunk torsion springs for their trunk lid?
If so, can you tell me how you did it? Tried but can't seem to get them out of their slots under the hinges. My trunk lid does not stay up itself.

Put the ends of the torsion bars into a deep well socket with a long extension. This gives you the leverage you need to pry up on them and move them to the next notch.
