Valve Body Help needed

I was in the process of installing a Transgo Kit on my valve body, when I discovered that previous owner had done a modification that I don't understand. I would appreciate any information ya'll might have on the pictured mod and what it might accomplish. I could not find anything by searching he web.

If in doubt, buy another stock valve body. ( pretty cheap from a pick-a-part yard) Or move up to a manual valve body. ( much more $$ but you get much more).

Yep. I talked to Transgo. They suggested the same thing. I ordered a new one. Thanks

I installed a B&M transpak on my 727 many years ago and the instruction had me drill through one of the passage walls which is what appears have happened here.
