Ac Vents Help Please

Ok i have some ac vents i will be putting in my Challenger.The ones i got have a broken housing but the vents are good.The one that i have currently have broken vents but the housing is good .Question is how can i transfer the vents over ? It seems like there is a rivet and it is not removable . Thank you for the help in advance !

They are not rivets as such. They are more like little rounded head pins and they can be pried out.

Awesome thank you guys i will try it , i know these things can be brittle so i will be super careful with them.

I used tweezers, one on each side, to lift it out.
Do it in an area where you can find it if it comes flying out.
Note the difference in the thickness of the silver surround on the front.

I seen that , id prefer the smaller ones like the top but the thick ones are all complete and working

I have changed a few of them out. PIA at best but can be done. There is a metal clip between the housing and the vent that has to be dealt with too. By the way, The thick vent is 70 and the thinner ones are from later E bodies. I have had a little luck fixing the vents themselves but that is more delicate than swapping the vents from housing to housing. Good luck.

i do like the smaller later model vent look , it’s just these are so hard to find nobody has them.

71-74 B-Bodies use the same vents in their dash panels as the 71-74 e-bodies, sometimes you can find them on ebay for a decent price. Right now there are 3 or 4 on there for around $100 but I've gotten them for more like $75 not too long ago.Maybe even one of the larger Mopar salvage yards still has some.

Even with the broken housing that 70 e-body center unit is probably worth $50 or $75 to someone with a 70 that needs the vents for the same reason.

I did just that on my 71, my local yard had a the exact vents pictured. I think even some trucks used the same vents as well.

Awesome thank you for the great info .. i found one on ebay so far im looking to see if maybe someone has just the vents before i get that whole thing

I think I have them in duct/vent box in the attic. If your still in need, just let me know and I’ll look. No promises though. They will be from a 73 cuda if I have them.

Maybe i can see your duct that connects to the vents if you still have it
