This is what it is. It is legitimate. I apologize for the upset I started with my original post. I would like to see this go to the owner of this car. I hope to communicate with him / her at some point soon. We all know it’s not a 76 Dart w super six and special whatever. I’m sick of having it. I do feel a bit of compensation for it’s safe return is justified. I can assure any of that would go to buying fixing my favorite MoPar car. If your still upset. I don’t know how else to explain It to you. I apologize if I insulted anyone. Merry Christmas

I think that selling the build sheet to owner of the car that it belongs to is like selling someone their birth certificate.
It really only belongs to the the car. Anything over the cost of shipping it it just wrong.
Now if someone was offering a reward for the return of the build sheet is another matter.

Typical. If you can afford a V code cuda then you can afford to pay 1000 bucks for the build sheet.
Hate to say it, but I would have to shell out the cash if I found a build sheet for my V code.
Very few people "give" anything away any longer, unfortunately.
That's one of the reason's I don't hang out on fake book. There is no comradery on facebook on any "group". These few forum pages, ebodies.org moparts and the for only's are where I make friends.

"than you can afford..." What a philosophy. That is why very few people do what is right, since "they can charge someone, why not"
Not really the "Golden Rule" " do unto others before they do it to you..." anymore and that is just one of the reasons people take advantage of things, because they can.

It's unfortunate really.
The previous owner of my V code had a chance at the original stamped engine. Flew west cost to east coast and when they got to the motor, the guy upped his price 2 or 3K. Previous owner declined.

That sucks, but buying an engine that has physical value is not buying a piece of paper that does nothing but tell you what the car was born with and the car has up to 3-4 build sheets but only 1 engine that the car needs to function.
Of course if you are buying something just to sell it for a profit, than buld sheets and engines are just another part expense. Strictly something to sell.

Cuda Hunter, not totally true. I have 2 V codes. I paid $7,000 for the pair many years ago.

Well, a matching motor will bring you about 10K on the final price. A build sheet is somewhere between 7-10K on the final price. So, for a final sale, the build sheet and motor make a huge difference.
Of course, most of us don't buy for the resale value, but I have to always keep that in mind as life is ever changing and I expect some kind of emergency to show up and force sales. Again.

Also, when I pay 15k just to roll a car around the garage and say I own a V, I have to always keep the end value in mind.

The entire reason I am "cuda Hunter" is because even in the beginning, mopar, for me, in 2000 was too much for me to even consider purchasing. I constantly hope of finding a cuda in a barn that I don't have to pay 100k for because it has a hemi.
Value means little, when I am burning the rubber off the rear tires and shortly thereafter wearing the rubber off the front tire corners.

I never have and still don't give a crap about the "code".... this is that investor mentality that has damaged the hobby and why a piece of paper (Broadcast sheet) is worth $1000+. This is all about pecking order, value and status and has nothing to do with the actual vehicles. There is/was a 70 Challenger for sale on here, listed as an 440 car but looking at the VIN it was a 318, however it is a very nice car. I don't think they should be worth more or less than what they are built as when you are standing before them, but I also say that I don't think a Hemi car is worth $200K+ just because of that engine.
