Hello, I apologise if this isn't the "what's it worth section",but I didn't see one. I have a 1973 318 Callenger for sale in Texas. I want to sell her soon, in the next week or so. Car is complete with all the emblems, seats are not ripped, there is 2 spots of rust on the body and then a lot of rust around the vinyl top. I am attaching pictures. She does not run but she did years ago. She has been up on blocks. Gas tank was changed out. There are also some spare parts inside and a 340 torque converter. I do not know hoe to price it but I do feel that I could get more then $5000. So I will put $5000 OBO since I must list a price. Thank you very much I am having a hard time attaching photos but will keep trying. Sorry! Here is one.

Like anything the value is all in what someone will pay for it. I bought a 74 Challenger about 10 years ago in a similar condition for 5k - it was a runner that hadnt been run in a few years sort of thing. I purchased it from friends that needed the money and I struggled to get a realistic value on a classic car, so I sympathize with what I think your asking. But, I think the Challenger is worth $5000 based on the description. I don't see pictures of the rust, so that could be a big sticking point, but 5K doesnt seem unreasonable or excessive and the potential could go up a couple thousand depending on the rust and how exstensive the rust is.

Cars in much worse shape have gone for $10k or higher.
I'd think you could start at $10k and let someone work you down to $8k.
If you start at $5k, they'll beat you up and offer $3k.

Condition is everything. If you or someone can check the fluid levels. Then put a battery in it. With the ignition disabled. Crank it for a few minuets to get the oil through the motor. Do a Video post it on you tube. Them post a link here. If my brother still lived in Texas. I would have sent him to check it out with cash. and I be on my way. Like I said condition is everything. Pictures of frame rails, trunk floor, floor pans and other. I wouldn't take a dime less until you know what you have. The members here can put a fair price on it for the seller and buyer. Some might get up set at this but that's to bad. Earn it. This car looks complete that make a Big difference to me. I don't use time and money fining things.

If they don't like the price. Spank them and send them home as a miss behaved neighbor adolescent.

This is what you what to happen inside the motor. No need to remove the valve covers. with the ignition disabled. Turn the starter over for 2-3 minutes max at a time. let sit for about that long to cool the starer down. If you do that a few times you should be good to start the motor.

It’s a 10k car all day, I wouldn’t take anything less. Show pictures of the rust area.

Since it's a 10K car all day can you please take some pictures of the frame rails and the trunk and floors from the bottom.
Is there any frame rail rust or damage?

Notice that there is are several projects over the past 2 years under 10K.
A running driving nice car , 72-74 tops out in the 25-30k range.

Body work will be a minimum of 8K (if lucky) Paint is 10K
Restoration of the interior 8K
Rebuilding of the motor 4K minimum

What rust does the car have. That can determine a lot due to body and paint being 20K without dealing with a ton of rust.

I disagree to agree and vise a versa. As I said: The condition is everything and everything there. If the condition is shown with pictures then a close value can be stated. It is worth what it sales for.

That could be. But here again The condition is everything. The estamente of repairs could exceed the value of the car. It would depend on what the buy would want it for. It's not a 6 PAK,HEMI or other.
I have experienced those situation where the seller would say it's a 70k car restored. There are other buyers waiting. I look around and even the crickets go quite. Unbeknownst to them they have fallen out of their tree and bumped there head. Not knowing or knowing they are way over priced for a candite for what ever.

That being said I'm keeping this in mind. The seller wants to move in a short period of time. If the seller wants to sell it pictures need to be posted as ask. If there is an issue of the sellers ability. Find a neighbor hood kid take picture and give them $20. Or even get someone there to get it running. That will narrow down the buyers and the value of the car. If structurally sound it would bring up the value.

The other thing. There are buyer that have the intent to buy and flip. It artificially inflates the value and market. Then the one's that buy it and lack of funds. Then it sits. The one's that have a disposable income are the one's that set the price correctly. That's why I say for the seller not to sell until they post pictures and don't take less then 5k. Buyer be where if someone does. As is where is! Did I miss it? Is there a title in hand and clear?
