Your existing harness will work just fine. I didn't need to change mine when going from 2 speed. This applies if you have the correct 1971 switch 2770380

Thank you for the pics. As you probably know the more you get into this the more you learn .I have 2 sets of wiper links. Both are supposed to be 3 spd. Any light you could shine is appreciated
2822 292 58622
3431 514 58622

I layed 1 set over the other and they are the same?
Any thoughts?

2822 292 is a 2 speed link, not to be used with a variable speed/3 speed set up. 1970/71 used a 2822 293, rare and hard to find.

3431 514 is a 3 speed link for 1972 to 74 3 speed setups. It would work with the correct 72-74 crank.

In 70 & 71 the 3431077 wiper motor used a 2822289 crank.

Thank you again.
The crank on my wiper motor (3431665) has part # 3431518 on the crank.
Thank you again.

Both those are 1972+ parts. Seems like everything you have is 1972. If your switch is also a 72 and up 3 speed one then you’re right about your first post. You’ll need a different plug for the switch.

Sorry, I thought we were working with ‘70 - ‘71 stuff, your nickname led me down that path. I saw your other thread too, that’s also a 72+ rallye cluster.

If you have switch #4 you'll need a new connector. If you have switch #2 (2770380) your existing harness is fine. Variable switch 2770378 will also work, it looks identical to #2.

Yup, those are 1972 switches (typo on the second number). Sorry, no I don't. Those would be pricey too, of course, depending on the condition. You might have better luck with a 2770378. Maybe someone has a 72+ donor harness and are willing to part with the plug. Then you can re-pin it according to the schematic in Post#7. Here's what I believe to be a picture of it. Your very welcome too, glad I could be of some help.

I'm guessing it would. Things I've read in the past said that a 378 is a suitable replacement for a 380 but they were all talking about the 3431077 wiper motor.
The other thing I came to believe was that that big plastic cover on the 3431665 motors merely houses a set of more robust contacts that replaced the flimsy ones under the 3431077 motor's top plate. Sorry, but I'm mostly just familiar with '70/'71 stuff.

Can anyone else please verify that the 3431665 motor is basically the same as the 3431077 one.

When I did my 2 speed to variable/3spd swap I went the extra mile replacing the washer foot pump with the electric pump. That feature was built into the switch. All it entailed was a new reservoir, washer motor/pump (wiring was already there) and a new firewall grommet. Something to think about.

It was the final step that went with the standard to rallye dash conversion.

Hey @EW1BH27 - where did you source everything to upgrade to the new reservoir, washer motor/pump, etc...? The PO of my 1973 deleted the entire washer system and I'd like to reinstall it.

Wow, that was so long ago, let me see. I think I bought the reservoir from eBay, sorry, I can’t remember if they were one of the major suppliers with an eBay presence. I know the pump/motor came from a friend that ran a local restoration shop once. The firewall plug from a Quebec reseller, my guess is any proper diameter body plug that looks close will do. Again, sorry, I know that’s not any help and not what you were hoping for.

Do you have the correct switch/wiper motor setup? Member Floyd might still have some motor/pumps for sale, check with him.

Good luck

@EW1BH27 - I have been going through the wiper switch/harness/motor trying to get everything working correctly. I'll go through the parts book to make a list of all the washer system items I need and then reach out here to do some shopping. Thanks for the feedback and tip about Floyd.

I'll probably open a new thread with more switch/motor questions. I have read so many threads, but still not found a few answers I'm looking for.

My 3-Speed Wiper Motor #3431 665 (23-67-98) is correct for 1973 Challengers. The crank is correct too (#3431 518) so I assume the linkages are all original too.

My 3-Speed Switch #3488 764 (23-67-160) is NOT correct for 1973 Challengers. Should be #3621 670. But the connecters match the harness and the bench tests I've found (mostly from member @Slotts who I thank greatly!) all appear to be good.

I was able to test the washer circuit after I found where the wire was cut in the engine bay 🤪

Thanks!
