Drag Tire Opinions for a 72 Challenger

Thanks @6PKRTSE. Other comments have discouraged slicks. I have an A833 with 3.09 first and 1.67 second. Rear is 8 3/4 3:23 I'll need to measure if 275 will fit in the stock wheel well.

Drag Tire Opinions for a 72 Challenger

Thanks. Everyone agrees the BFGarbage have to go (that term entertains me). I've been looking around at the Nitto and MT tires ... Next, sizing. Do I stick with my 255/60 R15? I can change wheels on the rear and go wider, thinner. Like 275/40 R17. Thoughts?

Drag Tire Opinions for a 72 Challenger

A local club hosts an annual classic car drag race. Last year was my first participation and a whole lot of fun. However, I had a really hard time getting my tires to hook up. I have a 440 Magnum with a Hurst 4-spped. I even put 200 lbs of mortar mix in the trunk which helped a little. I also...

Power Steering Fluid Smoking - Normal?

Apologies ... I've edited my post to be more constructive.

Power Steering Fluid Smoking - Normal?

ok, sure I need to lighten up ... but hey, I'd give you more credit for posting "I've never seen that before" than a generic answer. Also, I don't 'expect' this forum to solve my problem, so I should have concluded on the original responses that no one (reading the post) had seen this problem ...

Power Steering Fluid Smoking - Normal?

leak was not the question to this forum ... it was the smoke. and if the valve covers are leaking, I would merely change the vale cover gaskets ... not rebuild the engine. sigh ...

Power Steering Fluid Smoking - Normal?

Smoke? - so potentially over-heating and reaching flash point of the PS fluid. So I researched that which ends up being 300-500 degrees F. I went for a short drive and checked ... still smoke, but temperature of the fluid was only 170-180 degrees F. I went for a longer, harder drive, same thing...

Product Review - BlueDevil Power Steering Leak Stop

Hey Jeff. I used the Blue Devil after reading this post and it stopped a leak I had at the input shaft of the steering box. However, I noticed when checking the fluid after a drive, it was smoking!! Did you notice anything like that? I posted on this forum and several replied just shamed me that...

Power Steering Fluid Smoking - Normal?

When I took the power steering reservoir cap off today to check my fluid level after a fun drive, I noticed it was smoking. Is this normal? I have googled a bunch and searched, but I can't find anything relevant. Only that is has a flash point of 300-500 degrees F. Background ... This is a 72...

    Regular Mini Starter vs Hi-Torque

Thanks Juan. When I first read that post I didn't clearly understand ... now I do

    Regular Mini Starter vs Hi-Torque

I decided (with the help of this chain) that I didn't need a hi-torque starter and went with a regular mini ( Powermaster PowerMax Plus PWM-9300). It turns over my 440 magnum with ease but the clearance for the connection wires and the block is startlingly close (like 1/4") and incredibly...

    Coolant Leak from Manifold?

Thanks. Do you have a brand you like? High Temp? What I found was "Permatex 59214 High Temperature Thread Sealant"

    Regular Mini Starter vs Hi-Torque

Thank you. So I assume all of the 'I use this" comments from people are regular torque starters as probably most people have less that 10:1 or 16:1 compression. Yes the starter literature also indicates high compression for high-torque starters. Since no one commented that a regular torque...

    Regular Mini Starter vs Hi-Torque

Thank you all for your thoughts on starters ... but you are not addressing my question ... "Regular vs Hi-Torque" for mini starters. Seems it may just all be marketing as none of you seem to comment on differences.

Thanks tonysrt, sadly Rock only has remanufactured full size and no mini starters available.

    Regular Mini Starter vs Hi-Torque

I searched "high torque" and "torque" and read thru 4 pages of threads ... Maybe I'm blind, but I found nothing that talked about pros/cons between a regular mini starter or a high torque mini starter. Yes, many people talking about heat issues and headers ... I do appreciate your "Made in...
