Need some tips on how to diagnose this:
On rare occasions, when I'm driving, the amp and voltmeter gauge will shoot up to max and stay there for a preiod of time until it suddenly goes back to normal.
On sunny days, I don't even notice the change until I, by accident, glance over the gauges...

I attached the gear and housing and I notice the housing is off center. I guess this is for the varying sizes of the gears, so I rotate it until it connects...

I have a suspicion there's going to be an issue with the carb air door, so I'll probably drop it. As for air needed, I'm curious; the previous engine was a Ray Barton 426 with an custom Indy intake. The base plate was cut and rewelded to fit with the higher intake. The result; no room for filter...
