Correct. Here is an example off Challenger RTA’s schematic where BJ and RW are referenced. Thanks! I was thinking it was differences between options packages on an e body. Not a different platform… which makes sense.
So I see where it goes to the neutral safety switch on the transmission, and it’s not that plug. That plug’s breakout off this harness goes down below the car, these connectors in question look to be up at the engine. They’re just wrapped together with the neutral safety switch wires. Does that...
So this info was very helpful with a few issues, but I am having trouble identifying some burned connectors in the engine compartment. This is for a ‘71 Challenger originally equipped with a 318, two barrel carb, and 904 transmission.
There is a harness on the drivers side of the engine that...
No, I didn’t reach out about it because I figure it’s water under the bridge. If I were to do it again, I might slice a X in the vinyl material under where the vin goes so I could cut out the foam beneath it, but still have the vinyl material under the vin. I think that would reduce the bend in...
I bought it from Year One, who subs it to Al Knoch interiors. I had a question about trimming and modifying it, and called Al Knoch directly. They were super nice and helpful. Also got it back way quicker than I expected.
FWIW; I had purchased one from classic industries and waited a year for...
One thing I finished but I’m not completely satisfied with was my vin installation. The vin restoration itself came out great, but when I mounted it, the plush foam below it prevented it from laying flat. I tried twice to get it flat and decided to leave it because I was out of floret rivets and...
After nearly a year of being on a jig in my garage, my dash is fully restored and finally back in my car! A tip I wish I’d had before starting the install would be to trim the foam in the defroster ducts away from the screw holes that secure the dash. The foam would prevent the screws from going...
Correct, that is the engine side connector for the wiper motor. If you pull the plug out, you’ll see a little bump off the side that is a semi circle on the bottom of this diagram of the plug. That will orient you on which wire goes where.
I took all of your advice and made this fit. I took a punch and hammer and bent the speaker’s frame in one spot to bend it down to get the smallest amount of clearance from the dash frame. You can see the dent I made and the clearance in the last two pics here.
I also had to trim two of the...
For those who called this out as the ground strap for the map light, you were right. My car didn’t come with that light package so I didn’t know it would have that ground strap!
Thanks for all the suggestions. The wealth of knowledge here never ceases to amaze me.
Thanks to your suggestions I figured out what it is. Should I spill the beans or put this to a vote? It’s one of the suggestions that was made above. Attached are dimensions. I don’t think I can do a poll here, but how about clicking one of the emojis for this post for what you think it is?
👍...
I’m about to reinstall my dash after restoring everything, but I saw this on the floor of my car in the passenger side. Is this a ground strap for something? I don’t remember taking it off…
Two different size holes, and the smaller hole side looks like there were teeth marks to maybe prevent it...
Is there a more complete one line diagram than the service manual offers? I noticed a few discrepancies, such as missing indicator lights, and no reference to the headlight/lamp harness (engine side of terminals 10-14). I didn’t see any details in wiring adaptations either… I can only guess that...
Interesting, thanks for the info. Mine was built in August of ‘70. I think I am going to route it from the drivers side, as my grommet only has one hole in it and there is an abandoned aftermarket wire sticking out of the firewall that I need to remove anyway. If anyone ever sees my car in the...
