392 Hemi dipstick with mid-sump pan?

The pics are super helpful. I bought the same Blackheart manifolds for mine. Thank you for sharing.

    8HP90 Install help needed

Regarding pinion angle: the key is making sure your angles are parallel, and if you do that 3-3.5 degrees should be fine (second image in the drawing below). Based on what you're saying, I'd get the engine/trans mounted and set, then measure the angle and see how that compares to the rear axle...

392 Hemi dipstick with mid-sump pan?

I do like that "right up the side of the engine" approach. It's not a straight shot but it's way better than the crazy route the two-piece version takes. I'm going to see if I can find something like that, or I was also considering a flexible dipstick solution which I used on the transmission...

392 Hemi dipstick with mid-sump pan?

ok that's helpful info and I am going to look at other options. That looks like a lot of bends for sure. Thank you for the helpful advice, back in 2014 you were one of the "pioneers" LOL!

392 Hemi dipstick with mid-sump pan?

Awesome thank you so much - the pics are super helpful! I was thinking about using a flexible dipstick setup, does that tube setup work well for you?

392 Hemi dipstick with mid-sump pan?

Yes I am planning to use the HP-70, why do you ask? Is that what you have done? Right now it's sitting in the engine cradle below, but I thought about using my 4 post lift or an engine hoist to lay it over a bit

392 Hemi dipstick with mid-sump pan?

Related question for folks watching this thread: has anyone done the oil pan R&R with the transmission on their engine and the engine upright vs upside down on an engine stand? I thought about maybe trying to angle it over to one side or the other before making the switch, but not sure it's...

392 Hemi dipstick with mid-sump pan?

OMG well there's "seeing it" and there's "understanding what you are looking at". What threw me was the term "oil indicator tube plug". So basically there a plug that needs to be punched out, and that's where the new dipstick goes. Got it. Thank you for helping me understand.

392 Hemi dipstick with mid-sump pan?

LOL thank you both for the replies, and actually maybe I'm asking the wrong question: how can I find the right hole (LOL) in the block? I tried doing some research and can't find any reference to where there's a block-off or plug that I can remove and install a dipstick - or purchase (an...

392 Hemi dipstick with mid-sump pan?

ok thank you - so I went on their site and don't see it - any chance you have a part number or could link me? As an aside, they seem to be pretty spicy in the pricing department...comparing their mid-sump oil pan etc to the Holley kit as one example. But the bottom line is if they have what I...

392 Hemi dipstick with mid-sump pan?

My 392 Hemi came out of a 2020 Scat Pack challenger, which has the dipstick coming out of the oil pan. I will be putting that engine in a 1970 Challenger convertible. and the Holley mid-sump pan I'm replacing it with has no hole for a dipstick. Through some research I see there may be a place on...

    Crate 6.4L Hemi 485hp - Exhaust Manifolds

ok that's helpful and thanks. I figure once I get to the point of (carefully) trying to shoehorn the engine and trans into the car that's the kind of thing I will be watching for - among many other things LOL

    Crate 6.4L Hemi 485hp - Exhaust Manifolds

Sure NP, here's a link: 2015-2023 Mopar Transmission Vent 4627864AB | My Mopar Parts with photo below. I saw someone else had used it for this application (can't recall where I saw) and seems like a good option.

    Crate 6.4L Hemi 485hp - Exhaust Manifolds

My engine/trans combo came out of a 2020 scat pack challenger, so seems like I will be ok with the Holley mount. I bought a vent tube kit that will hopefully take care of the issue you mentioned, but is the white bulge is the "cap" you made? Nicely done. I've seen some other posts with info on...

    Crate 6.4L Hemi 485hp - Exhaust Manifolds

Great, thank you yet again. I ordered the headers and am hoping to ge the engine and trans mocked up in the engine bay over xmas break with the motor mounts and (Holley) trans mount I bought. Then I can see where I stand with the headers and I will also look into the 90 degree oil filter adapter...

    Crate 6.4L Hemi 485hp - Exhaust Manifolds

Perfect and thank you. 2 more questions: 1. Did they come with gaskets? I don't seem gaskets pictured or mentioned so I am thinking "not" 2. Did you use anything special for bolts, or did you use studs etc? I had a major PITA with exhhaust manifiold hardware (loosening up) until I bought some...

    Crate 6.4L Hemi 485hp - Exhaust Manifolds

Thank you for responding. What are you running for a PS box, is it stock? I'm thinking about getting a Borgeson unit but everything is $$$$ so trying to be strategic about my purchases. So you went with something like this for the headers?

    Crate 6.4L Hemi 485hp - Exhaust Manifolds

ok so I am doing the same thing - 6.4L with 8hp70 trans and I was looking at the Blackeart shorty headers on the Holley site but they ALL say "manual steering only", so what about power steering cars? I am planning to buy a flexible (oil) dipstick, but what about the oil cooler - what did you...

    Holley Engine Mounts - question

I see people talking about Holley Engine mounts for their Gen 3 hemi and looking on their site I see these: Hooker Blackheart Engine Mount Brackets https://www.holley.com/products/engine_swap_parts/hemi_swap_systems/parts/BHS566 Which are not Holley branded obviously. Are these the right ones...

Simple Wiring Diagram for starting a 383

While you're right that it's "my car" etc, I would not do that to a numbers-matching car!!! The convertible was a 318 car originally, and (I was told) the 383 came out of a Dart but can't vouch for that. It was a tough decision because I really love BB power/torque but decided the 392 is the...
