I was concerned about timing chain, vacuum reading is around 8 at idle. no matter where I set timing or adjust fuel mixture I can't get it over 8-9. I haven't done a leak down test... i have no idea how to do this. sucks working on mystery engine. I think it's been cammed.. but I have no idea...

I am looking at Dakota as well. My "panels" that cover the gauges are in rough shape. So I'll need to replace them as well.. the autometer ones come with that, not just gauges, so im just thinking about all my options. thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks that's helpful Originally a rallye cluster but was replaced with a 72-74 version. I think I've got a handle on it now. Thanks again for the assist!

I'll do that, thanks.. problem I'm having is I think the wiring with the gauges is from 72 and it's been spliced into the 70 wiring from the fuse block. I'll dig into the manual and the car and hopefully sort out what's connected to what.

That's a good point. I hadn't thought of maintenance on it later.
