Good to know you are going with a 340 block to match up to the 340 carb.

One of the more tedious things we are having to do is bead blast all of the Engine components before they go to the Machine Shop. They usually Hot Tank everything but that process does not remove all of the corrosion. We want every piece to be like new so these parts are being scrutinized to the nth degree. Below is a picture of the Intake and Heads after being blasted. They have zero corrosion and are ready for paint. We will be using Spies Hecker (hardened) paint. It is so durable that it does not burn off or change color with heat like most paint products do.

Dave,

Spies Hecker? Never heard of that. Is that what you used on your other engines when you restored them?

We used Spies Hecker with our other Engines/Projects and it was Excellent. The Cars have been run at operating temperature (many times) and do not show any change in appearance. I was told that you could spray Spies Hecker on rubber parts and it is durable enough to flex without having to add a flex additive. Here are pictures of the Engines that are painted with SH.

Someone in another Forum asked what paint code was used for the Chrysler blue that we used on the Slant Six Engine. We did not use a default mixture for the color of any of the Engines shown above. We spent quite a bit of time at the Paint Store mixing our own concoctions to match areas that had been sealed & enclosed behind brackets.

Here is a picture of the area we used as a format for the blue color. This small sample probably looked about as nice as the original paint would have looked the day it was sprayed.

Never heard of that........

Here's an odd feature on one of the Barracuda scripts that will be used for the Car. All 3 of these have the same part number but one has a different feature than the other two. I will be using that one for the back Tail Light Panel. Can anyone spot the difference between the three?

Is the B solid on the center emblem? It looks like it has sharper edges too..

You are correct! I cannot figure out why it is different. Everything on the back (part numbers, casting details, etc.....) is identical. The edges are also the same but the middle emblem is NOS and has never been used. Even though it's new, some of the paint is flaked off in some areas. I am going to polish the lettering surfaces and completely refurbish all of them to look new again.

We are finally good to go on getting the 4 Door painted. Pictured below are the 1970 E-Body Trunk Torsion Bars that we just had reproduced. They are a perfect copy of the "spring steel" Factory originals.
No more having to locate & repair rusted old samples. These are brand new and ready to paint!

The new Trunk Torsion Bars worked out perfectly. They fit and function exactly like the originals. Here are a few photos showing them installed in the car.

After applying the red, many of the Factory details started to show up rather nicely. The Mastic coating on the inside Quarters and Seam Sealer in the Trunk turned out exactly as we hoped. Also pictured are the Fender Tags.

It was one of my reproduction Corvette Emissions Decals that I had with me that day. (lol) Here is how those Fender Tags actually look.

On a separate note, we had a Publisher in a few weeks ago who said that every major Magazine publication is waiting for a chance to cover this project. HOT ROD even started a link on their Facebook page that talks about what we are doing. Below is that link.
