HEllo, I have a 1970 challenger RT 383 727 auto 8.75. It's a California car with no A/c.
What is the correct original carb I need?
Whats the exact part numbers?

Thanks everyone

I found this carb.
Holley
3579
List 4218-3
Also has the number 6R 3435 B
What is this carb for? Can anyone decode this for me. I look at the carb identication list on here and I see similar numbers but not exact to this one I just got. Any help is much appreciated

The list on E body only that people have put up says my car should have numbers of:
Holley R4218-A and 3418 543 on the carb. All I see on the carb I just got is.....
3579
List 4218-3
And 6R3435B. Is this still the correct one?

Looks like the correct one to me. Many Holley carbs indicate their model number by the LIST-XXXX and this one clearly states its a 4218. The Chrysler part number, in the form XXXX XXX is not generally imprinted on the carbs.

Are these carbs available new as a direct bolt on or only used? I brought my car home yesterday and it needs a new carb with a choke.

No reproductions. You have to find a Original and rebuild it, if you want the correct carb your car came with.

If you're eager to fire it up and see it run, many four barrel carburetors will run with your engine. You could use another carb, just temporarily, until you find the proper numbers matching one.

Doing so, would allow you to start up, run, maybe even drive the car, and identify other things you may want to resolve while looking for the correct carburetor.

Page 14-11 in the 1970 Mopar Parts Catalog lists the carburetors that came on all the 383 and 440 engines, both Holly and Carter four barrels.

I'm gonna suggest that most of those carburetors could be bolted to your intake and fired up. Of course, without the precise correct carb, there may be an issue or two to resolve with the fuel line or choke. But at the very least, you may be able to start the thing and see it run.
