That isn’t correct. Bumpers are mounted to the bumper brackets using four carriage bolts. The optional bumperettes bolt onto the standard bumper and use the two inner carriage bolt holes. There is a unique RH and LH bumperette to conform to the shape of the bumper. I’ll dig up some pics and post them.

I am aware of the differences in the fit between the left and right hand guards and i have installed these before.
All the other cars still had the original bumpers on them. This car the original bumper was missing. I have tried them on multiple original bumpers around the shop and they don't fit correctly.
Tried them on a rusty R/T front bumper at my friends restoration shop and they fit perfectly. I don't know why they would have 2 different bumpers but i have seen some posts that say in '70-'71 that they did.

@dodgerebellion - Is it possible that you have A-body bumper guards? They look very similar.

To my knowledge, there are three different Challenger bumpers:

- 1971 Rubber bumper
- 1970-late 1971 chrome bumpers (Jack Hook style)
- Late 1971-74 chrome bumpers with slots to accept the later style jack with no hook

The chrome bumpers are identical in shape, the only difference is the slots that were added in late 1971.
