Hello all, I have an OEM restoration 1970 426 Hemi Challenger with an automatic transmission. The engine idles too high and I don’t think the linkage is correct at least based on other photos I have seen. In addition, the idle solenoid has no linkage. Can anyone look at these photos and tell me what I need to replace or add to make this linkage correct?

Thanks!

regarding idle speed, can you not simply adjust the idle speed at the idle-speed-screws?

regarding the idle-speed-solenoid, it looks like your rear carb is missing the throttle lever that makes contact with the solenoid, and many 426 engines run without this solenoid.

if you're looking to restore the function of the solenoid, find a rear carburetor with the correct throttle lever, when you can.

aside from the DIY bracket affixing the solenoid, the rest of your linkage and what I see look fine to me.

Thank you for the quick response. I adjusted the idle screws out as far as they go but I’m still idling at 1000 rpm. Is there another adjustment I can make?

Thank you for the quick reply. The idle screws are out as far as they will go and the car still idles at 1000 rpm. Is there another way to make an adjustment?
