Not impossible but tough to find. Back in the day Auto trannys were removed and replaced. Tranny shop had a rebuilt in stock and replaced it with yours so you could be back on the road in a day or 2. Back in the 70's not many people cared about matching numbers.

I seem to recall the partial VIN is located on the transmission. If so, the correctly dated transmission still wont be numbers matching. I'ma go review my notes on this.

I also thought there was a partial VIN stamp. B2451025 are the stamps on the engine, core support, and cowl. I'd love to find this transmission, but as Tony stated, it's a long shot. Date code correct might be the best I can hope for.
