For sale is a 1972 340 engine block. The block has a casting date of 1-18-71. The casting number on the block is 2780930-340-1. The block has been magnafluxed - no cracks. The block is currently setup for 0.030 over pistons.

Seems like with that casting date, it would be a 71 block.

VIN stamped on the side of the block confirms it was from an early 72 model- you can faintly see the 2 in front of the B...assuming it's the original stamping.
