The two small rust spots will end up being bigger then you think. $13,000 is a lot of money for a 72-74 that obviously needs some rust repair. For a mint stock restored 72-74, you'd be hard to get over $20,000. People pay big money for basket case 70-71's but the 72-74 cars need to be absolutely perfect to bring decent money. Even then it's a tuff sell.

I think $8000 is pushing it IMO.

I'm with burdar 72-74 just don't bring the $$$ know if that's the style you like then go for it. Know keep in mind somebody has been in their and transplanted the 383, cuz you could'nt get BB 72-74. I would personally want everything untouched, but that is just me! Good luck on your purchase.

Without pics it is hard to tell. It sounds high to me. Then if you add more to it to make it nice you will get upside down in it real quickly. The guy may have $13,000 or more into the car. It is easy to do. Now that the market has dropped you can afford to be picky. I would recommend buying only a factory performance car: 340, 383 , 440, etc. If you can afford a decent one, the 70 & 71's are the cars to get. They will hold the value longer if the values go down any more than they are.

The over heating problem is B.S. Offer him 6 grand and see what he does.Pics would help. As others stated 72-74 need to be about mint to bring any real money, especially in today's economic times.

I say that's a high also. I bought my 72 last year about this time for 6k. Its in good shape. A little rust but there's always more than you think. Mine has only 76k miles but is a 318 with a slapstick. I will have more than the 13k by the time that its complete. Mine is not really an investment, its a hobby.

Yeah not really looking at an investment more of a. Hobby, instead of paying 8K for a 70-71 that doesn't run and needs a motor, than paying 8K. To paint it, knowing how long it'll take to do that I would never enjoy my car. I don't have pics because I seen it already and checked it out, so next time I see him ill be burning out on my way home, would a 383 motor fit in a 72 challenger easy, or like what mods need to be done to fit, cuz some 1 told me it doesn't fit in a 72 challenger

The engine compartments are all the same. The factory just didn't off a BB after 71. A 383 will fit with no problem.

Ok now I'm confused. You're asking if a 383 will fit into this car ? I thought it already has a 383 in it.

No, it has a 383, BUT someone said that it wouldn't fit in a 72, but thats not true and when they said it, i got a lil confused but i know that the motor said 383

Where did it say 383? Was the distributor in the front or rear of the motor?

Distributor is on the front left side of the motor, when u open the hood, 383 marking is on i think the intake manifold with the old chrysler diamond like logo
