5000+ Mile Road Trip in a Big Block '70 Barracuda!

Just finished a little over 5300 miles in 17 days in this numbers matching big block L-code ‘70 Barracuda. Started in Nebraska, stopped in Colorado, Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Spokane, Helena, Jackson Hole, and back to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. It was a hell of a trip with only very small hiccups from the old girl.
Tired of all the negativity that seems to surround us all every day? Take it from me, America is absolutely gorgeous, and there is no better way to experience her than from behind the wheel of your Mopar. Get out and drive them!

Only had a few problems.. Got pretty got in the Nevada desert but we made it through unscathed. Towards the end of the trip it was consistently running a little hot, so I replaced the thermostat when I got back and that fixed it right up. Was burning a decent amount of oil the entire time (probably a little under a quart per 1000 miles but I'm told that's fairly normal). Since I've been back and cleaned the block off it hasn't been leaking at all so it seems to have self healed. Also I completely went through the brakes and put new hardware kits and shoes on all four corners before I left... Glad I did. By the time I got back to Colorado it seems my master cylinder had given up the goose, so I replaced that the other day and it's as good as new. Besides that, I ran out of gas once in LA because my gas gauge doesn't work. A vacuum plug fell off the brake booster in Yellowstone... That's really all there is to speak of. Taking care if it and doing some preventative maintenance helped tremendously. Had to change the oil/plugs halfway through and at the end of the trip, put new points in it before I left, etc.

Not sure I have made a post specifically about my car.. Although I did make a post when I first joined and I'm pretty sure you asked for a picture of my fender tag which I supplied, haha. Any questions feel free to ask.

Also I forgot to mention we had three full grown dudes in the car from Vegas all the way up to Seattle.... Which was an experience. Exhaust was dragging the whole way basically.

That is awesome, I love road trippin’ in an old car but I do prefer an Imperial for the ones over a few hundred miles…

Years ago (when I was a young man) I drove cross country from New Jersey to California and back with my girlfriend at the time, stopping along the way in my 70 A66 Challenger vert to enjoy America.

Awesome experience! I figured there would be a few hick ups. Glad they were all very small!!
Maybe put a newer set of springs on the rear before the next long haul.

I recall seeing the tag. Is your car a burnt orange interior? fk5 exterior also?
