I have a new to me cuda with 1969 440 modified with, hooker headers, high flow alum heads, big cam, 3.55 gears, 4 speed, keith black pistons, etc. I just installed promax outside carb metering blocks with 82 jets and pink springs, 64 jets in the center carb with 3.5 power valve. In 2nd gear from a near stop I slowly increased throttle snd the response was smooth and strong up to a point where there was a large dip in power then all hell broke loose. I assume that is when the vacuum secondaries opened up? How do I smooth out the transition....different springs or bigger jets or???

stiffer springs or more accl pump volume via pump cam swap , but keep the smaller squirter to allow the pump shot to last longer & cover the bog of the opening secondaries .

My experiement described above was a very slow accelerator push not a quick stomp. i am not sure that the accel pump has anything to do with it?

well the secondaries are all about vacuum , if there is a bog they are opening too soon & before there is enough air flow to pull fuel into the air stream so stiffer springs to delay the opening until there is enough air flow demand from the engine is the key . Often adjusting the accel pump will help , the cam profile will still pump fuel as the throttle is opened even with the throttle partialy opened depending on the cam profile used , possibly a larger squirter could allow more fuel in later in the throttle opening .

Psycho is correct as usual, but I did want to point out that all sixpack setups/combos have a little lag.

But I have always thought it was worth it...

I will try heavier springs. I have also heard about something called the "kill bleed" that effects when the secondaries start opening?

Where should the fuel level be set on the out board carbs. I have read just at the bottom of the sight holes and also 1/2 up the sight holes to be even with the sight hole in the center carb which is higher?
