'70 Ignition Switch Question - Switch Conditions?

Would anyone know the ignition switch conditions on a '70 Challenger? By switch conditions I mean what connects to what, when as the ignition switch goes from run, start, acc., etc.

We just finished a '71 Camaro and the schematic for that had the ignition switch conditions laid out in text. It helped greatly in figuring out the entire car wiring. For instance the Challenger has an "Ignition 1" wire. I'm betting this wire bypasses the ballast during start (and start only) to give the coil a bigger hit, as it were. I think I can see it in the schematic but not knowing exactly, i can't be exactly sure. But that's not really my question. My question is what connects to what, when?

Here are 2 images. One is of the Camaro we just finished that shows a text description of the ignition switch. The other is what I have for the Challenger and it gives no clues.

Many thanks!

The boxes in the diagram represent plastic connectors at the end of the steering column. You can see that Ignition 1 (14BR) can be traced on the diagram to whatever it connects to; In this case it looks like it goes to #22 on the bulkhead connector under the dash. Then look at the Engine Wiring Diagram. On the engine side it goes from #22 to the ignition ballast. Do you have an old harness or are you wiring from scratch? If you have the harnesses they will be in the correct positions when you plug them in.

I understand the connectors. That's not a problem. I just like road maps.

#22 does go to the bulkhead and ends up on the output (if we can call it that) of the coil ballast. I suspect during start #22 goes high (12V) and supplies the ignition coil with full voltage. Once the ignition switch is rotated to run (with the key) I then suspect #22 goes open with #23 now feeding the ignition coil through the ballast. Engine running, all is good. If someone could verify that, then that settles the condition of the "Ignition 1" wire. Which would be: All positions except start = open, Start position = connected to battery (12V).

Other than that, key buzzer? I could probably chew on that long enough to figure it out. Indicator lamp? Probably the light within the steering column to light up the automatic gear setting?

I've learned to be very methodical when it comes to wiring. The GM circuit grounds the brake and alternator lights during the start position (these dash lights lit up when you are starting). Without the knowledge of the switch conditions I don't know that I would have caught that, at least not easily.

I do think I can figure it out, was just curious if anyone had specific info.

I'm quite sure that the final wiring will look a lot different from the original. Gauges will be upgraded, buzzers will be eliminated and who knows what else. I can do this only if I understand the original set-up. A teacher from high school told me once "to break the rules, first you need to know them".

How's about this? Any guidance?

OFF - All open

START = Battery 1, Start, Ignition 1 (maybe Ignition 2) connected.
Buzzers, Accessory, Indicator lamp open - Anything grounding out to illuminate dash lights like GM does?

RUN = Battery1, Ignition 2, Indicator Lamp, Accessory, (buzzers?) connected.
Start, Ignition 1, (buzzers?) open

ACCESSORY = Battery 1, Accessory, (maybe Ignition 2?) connected.
All else open

Look about right?
