71 Barracuda : What's it worth?

I'm looking at a 71 Barracuda 318 w/ non running 383 torque flite. Has gauges, needs interior. Straight body, complete nice grill, complete exterior trim. Was running a year ago, hasn't been started. Rear pass floor needs replacement and drivers floor pan has a 3inch hole. Body is pretty straight and no other 'visible' rust. An old repaint. It seems like a good start to build something.

What would you say value is?

You should head on over to the "welcome wagon" and introduce yourself if you plan on buying an E body and sticking around.
I agree with the above number especially without some pics.

Thanks guys. I'm going to look at it in-person tomorrow. supposedly the body is solid outside of the floor pan areas I mentioned. We al know something lurks under there though. Here is a pic.

It is worth whatever you are willing to pay and the seller accepts it. Try to get the car up on a lift, you might also be able to pay a tire shop or someplace similar that will do a brake, fluid, chassis, suspension, tire inspection for around $20.00. bring a good magnet to check for body filler.

I'm not so concerned about driving it immediately, as I will eventually tear it down and rebuild it. I just want a good starting point. With that, is this a 10k car, a 15k car? It's easier to understand what a 72-74 brings but I have no clue for a 71 in this condition.

My answer was serious. Every car is different. Color, options, rust, paint and chrome condition, location paperwork etc... So the value is set between the buyer and the seller. Their is no book price like Kelly Blue Book to refer to. Ask ten people the value and you will get ten different answers.

Yeah I get it, what you're really willing to pay is determined when you miss out on a few cars and you say f- it , I want this one so I'm willing to pay over what current market demands.

If it's non running and you can't drive it and there's nothing major lurking under the paint, I'd say 8k.

lets put it this way, on flee bay a 318-engine trans missing bad floors 70 barracuda was over 10 grand. 71 barracudas are vary popular right now, if its as good as it looks from the pictures i would try for 10 maybe.

Mitch recently paid 10 for his '70 and I think it came with a big block drivetrain and if my memory serves me it was a big block car to start with.

That's sounds fair considering the cost and labor to bring these back.

Yup, Got a great deal on that Cuda , and it is an original numbers BS car , with original 383 and 4 spd. NO rust.
