Is it yours? All pontiacs are big blocks.
Yes and no. They were all variations on a theme. Generally anything over 400 is considered a big block. Most likely it will have 6X heads.

74. Is the car a Formula 400 car from the factory?

As a guy who has owned several Pontiacs. Just so you know Pontiac doesn't have a big or a small block like Chevy or Mopar. Pontiac engines are all interchangeable. Everything fits everything. You can take the heads off of a 326 and they'll bolt right on to a 455. The car might run like crap but the parts will fit.

These early 2nd gen Firebirds are coming up in value. When finished right they are a sharp ride.

Some have it stamped on the drivers side under the first spark plug. Depends on the year. Were you able to determine the heads ? Good luck with your sale.

It was a generalization for people who don't speak Pontiac. Most people don't know that all the blocks are the same. I have heard hours of bench racing about it. I know you have heard the hours of bench racing that Firebirds and Camaros are the same. If someone ever builds both cars they will find that the Pontiac is a better built car. I have had a bunch of 'Birds and GTO's. I like the way they drive, ride, and handle. The motors, even Ram Air motors, have a tough time beating a 440 Challenger that has equal engine mods. Ray, have a good one. It's been fun. 74, I hope we helped in selling your car.

I deleted all my posts with you on the subject I felt it was unfair to the seller to clog up his thread with a topic that was unrelated to the sale, suggest you do the same. Sorry 74 best of luck in your sale.
