So I stumbled upon a 73 Cuda Numbers Matching 340 Auto. Vin# BS23H3B. It is a 9 year old mediocre restoration. The paint has a couple bubbles around the window drip edge. A cracked grill (minor but still cracked), tires and wheels are beyond shot, doors need pins as they are sagging, and the interior is the worse part. Cheap blue velour on seats, dash, doors, sagging headliner all dirty and faded. Carpet is shot. It is dirty and doesn't show well. Originally Mist green with green interior, now blue and blue crush interior lol. It currently has a 2bbl carb with the incorrect intake, but the correct intake and air cleaner is in the trunk. It has been sitting under cover for the last 6 years slowly sinking into the ground. The Good... engine runs nice, rebuilt with 3200 miles since build. Untouched transmission pulls well, no rust or dents besides the bubbles mentioned. He claims no bondo and I can't find any evidence of it.

Was wondering what everyones thought on value are?

You better check the trunk pan, and floor pans (look up from the bottom) for rust, dirt holds moisture.

Yeah, did a pretty thorough look and all seemed solid. When I go back in a couple days I will jack it and crawl under. Driver floor pan was replaced when restored, as well as quarters and a few other spots.

Show him 12k and see what he says. Get it for as little as you can because paint and the interior isn't going to be cheap.

Well he started at $15,000 and I low balled him at $9000 because it is more of a project then I have time for right now (and he seemed desperate lol). We are now at $10,500 but I am hoping to get it down a little more yet. Mostly it is dirty, I think giving it a good clean will bring up the value a couple thousand.

If its definitely numbers matching with little to no body work - $10.5K is well worth it - scoop it up quick before someone offers him more.

He says it is #'s matching but I have to crawl under and verify for myself. Body work is just the bubbles in the paint as far as I can tell so far. When I am under her I will have a better idea, but my initial inspection (which was pretty thorough) didn't reveal any concern areas.

So... If all numbers matching, with a correct new interior and a decent paint job (not a rotisserie resto) what would it be worth. I am thinking I will need another $3000 for interior, $1000 for engine bay (carb, plugs & wires), $2000 to fix paint well, $2000 wheels and rubber plus the little things. So easily be into it for $20,000 real quick or $25000 with a real nice paint job.

10.5 K is a decent price for a numbers matching 73 cuda. It's the old story, the more work you can do yourself, the less you have to spend paying someone to do the work.
Hagarty's has the value of a 73 Cuda in fair condition at 25K as a benchmark.
The car looks to be a fair deal. Hard to find any project that runs decently for that price.

I remember I was trying to sell a fairly decent project car a while ago (not a Barracuda) and got tired of meeting people expecting a show car for 5k one guy showed up 3 times with a different friend each time so I decided to part it out. It was a good decision I ended up making nearly double what I wanted for the complete car and the people who came for the parts had a very different attitude I met some interesting people made some new contacts and sold everything so just be careful not to offend the seller or take up too much of his time I will never sell a project car again parts only from now on.

I will post and be looking for advice often that is for sure. My last Mopar (well besides all the trucks and vans) was when I was 16 I had a 69 Coronet 440 that I promptly pushed the rad though the hood when a I hit a drainage ditch while racing an impala through the playground. Never had the money to fix and since I could only afford fords and chevys... I will have one of each in my garage now
