HI i had rear end 8 1/4 on my challenger 71 it was one wheel drive i upgrade to auburn gear limited slip with 2 wheel drive and stock axle my question how much horse power can this handle .Thanks

A 318 2 bbl if you are nice to it. Chrysler dropped it as the standard rear in favor of an 8.75 due to it not being good for motors other than 6 cyl. Swap it out for an 8.75. It will be the cheapest option over the long run. You will need a complete rear, the shock mounts and U bolts for the 8.75. Depending on the 8.75's origin it may not have the same size drive shaft yoke as you use now. You may have to change it. The 8.25 yoke will not work on the 8.75.

It's still a lighter duty rear. Depending on the weight of the car, the tires, and the torque produced - I think it could handle 350-400 pound feet in an E body with sticky tires.
