Is this the correct assembly of the bulkhead connector? I took this picture before I dismantled the engine bay but I’m not sure if it was correct in the first place. The black seal looks odd to be exposed as pictured.

Thanks, Mike.

How do you supposed it might NOT be correct? I don't see anything obviously wrong. I believe the connectors cannot be plugged into the wrong place, each connector has a spot, and will only plug in to that spot.

Come to think of it, I believe the plastic base into which the harnesses plug in, goes on the inside of the passenger compartment, where the fuses (on the obverse side) will be easier to change.

Definitely on the wrong side, that seal isn’t sealing anything.

Yup. Whoever installed it should have started under the dash. I'm not sure it can be wriggled in through the hole and installed properly or not. May have to unhook everything under the dash and start over. Hopefully you can unbolt it and twist it 90 degrees and pull it back through. Good luck.

You are absolutely correct. It is odd. The black seal is the weather seal for the inside of the bulk head. If you don't know ask. That is the best thing to do. Is to ask.

Thanks for the all of the replies. Fortunately, I’m just now installing the dash assembly and can install the bulkhead properly with no trouble.

Quick dash install. Steering column removed. Have the 2 A pillar bolts started. Make sure duct work is in place and dash u nuts. Place dash on A pillar bolts and swing up. Can be done with the windshield in. Did mine by myself two is a plus.
