I remember checking factory radios with one speaker, an antenna, and a 12 volt battery. On the positive wire I had an inline 5 amp fuse. Others will chime in with more info and wiring diagrams! That's why this site rocks!

I've done this a few times. One speaker to the purple wire, one to the dark green (may have a tracer) then both grounded to the case. Power(12v) to the red wire and negative to the case. Antenna if you have one. You can also feed 12v to the orange wire if you want to see if the light works.

Make sure you have working speakers, don’t want to be thrown a curveball.

If you're asking about the one in my video, yes it is. You should be able to make out the horizontal chrome AM - FM selection slider. If you're asking about my plug pictures, yes. they're from the back of a stereo.

well the test is bad . no sound from radio at all . considering options now . i was thinking of getting the internals up grade . spoke with some people at carlisle, it did sound good in there set up . i wondered about the quality/longevity for there pricing. i like the idea of factory look but it is pricey. is there an aftermarket radio that fits into a 74 cuda hole ? another option i considered was a bluetooth receiver mounted remotely, i pandora all my tunes anyway . i can leave the broken radio in as a filler…and i guess i’ll remove the new single speaker in the dash …. my car came with a blank filler in leau of a front speaker….
