Clutch Linkage/Z-Bar Pins

I am in the process of rebuilding the z-bar on my 71 Challenger R\T 340. It is in reasonably good condition with the exception of the linkage pins on the arms. Lots of wear. Should this be corrected, or will it be ok to just put it back together? The clutch adjust rod end has quite a bit of wear also. My unfamiliarity with manual transmissions has me at a loss. Thanks.

I'm wondering if I could weld a repair on the pin and grind it down to the original shape. The pin on the other arm isn't as bad. I am concerned about slop in the linkage that could affect clutch performance.

I think if you can weld at all,you can weld and grind. The weld would be stronger then the original material. Take a measurement of a good area. It's not a high precision moving part. What's the worst case you have to buy one. What's the clutch rod look like?

I'm going to buy a new rod. The one that I have is obviously not the correct setup. It does not have the angled head for small blocks, the nuts, washers, spacers, etc. are wrong. All that and it's worn out.

Sometimes it simply makes the most sense to just replace with new. Brewer's is your place. The best customer service on the web!
