I've seen these elastomeric front bumpers on the '70 cudas many, many times. I often think why did those designers put the lower portion side tabs out in the lower valance intake hole. But, then I found a pic today that may help with the answer or at least cause me to ask the question, why is there 2 different front bumper designs on the elastomeric Front bumper? Is one a '71? If you look at this photo with 2 cars, they both have different designs on the lower portion of the bumper. The lime bumper is set well into the lower valance intake hole, like stair steps, while the purple one is set equal on the width of the lower valance intake hole. My car is supposed to be original Chrysler rubber, and it is like the purple, set wide. Anyone got a good answer?

My 70 Cuda manufactured in Oct 69 has the same elastomeric bumper as the purple example in the picture.
I did have a 71 elastomeric bumper, and if my old memory is correct it was like the lime green example,
I know it was slightly different than my 70.
Just my two cents worth.

The purple one is correct for a 1970. The green one has a 1971 bumper on it with a 1970 front valance. That's why they don't match up. The front valance opening was smaller in 1971. That's my take on it anyway.

That is correct 70 is different then 71. The lower portion of the bumper is longer to match the valance body line.
