I need to find out the differences between three(3) '68-'70(late) 340 factory cast iron intake manifolds #s 2531915-2, 3462848, and 3462848 1. Thanks for the help.

The last 2 848 & 848-1 are the same , just a reference for how many times the mold was used .
All 3 will be the square bore for the AVS carb . 71 ws the first year for the spread bore intake & Thermoquad carbs .
These were great intakes & even the performance intakes like the LD340 only had a slight edge in performance although being much lighter being alum .

Good info.

Do you know what year(s) the ....915-2 intake was used? Before, after the ....848? Or, were they used on different models? Or, maybe Plymouth vs. Dodge? I just want to be factory correct in my use of all these manifolds.

Is the after-market Air Gap intake better than the LD340?

From the part # the 915 intake has to be the earlier one possibly even a 273 intake are the bolt angles through to the cylinder heads the same on both manifolds ? The 273 used a different angle in 64 /65 .
#3462848 is about the correct part # for 70 use but I cant confirm it without a parts manual here .

The Air gap is superior , it will flow a bit more but the big gain is in the air temp getting to the heads

Would you happen to know the height difference between the ...848 and the Air Gap?
(Asking for hood clearance reason.)

Will the Carter AVS fit on the Air Gap intake?

I can find a spec & don't have either here to measure , you could put a straight edge across the carb mount & measure down to a bolt hole & maybe find an Air gap & do the smae measurement but I bet it is 1.5 " taller

I went back to the stock cast iron. Because it was original to the motor.
