Gas Cap

I need a gas cap for my 71' Challenger with the flip top cover. I need the inner cap that actually seals the opening in the filler neck. I bought one from Year One but it doesn't fit correctly.

Way way way back in the late 70's I had the same problem with my 70. Ended up at the Chrysler warehouse (in Fullerton?) for the area. They could not find anything in the books so we went for a stroll into the parts bins and ended up with a 69 Fury gas cap that fits but I do not remember if it was vented or not...

having the same issue. I ordered a inner twist on cap from year one too, it hasn't come in yet, but I have heard from several people that it won't fit. So i most likely will be sending it right back.
Did the give you hell for trying to return it?

didn't try to return it yet. I found a thread on another Mopar website that gave me a part # for a locking cap. Got it... and it worked. CarQuest is where I got it. I'll get you the part # this evening when i get home.

part # I bought was 35012. was $16 and some change.
