So the exterior paint is original? Still looks like a lot of original stuff under the hood that can be seen in the one photo. And it's only original once! Find some stock valve covers but use the reusable silicon fiberglass (or similar) gaskets that are less prone to leaking! Cool Cuda.

I am switching from the aluminum valve covers back to stock ones. When I put the stock valve covers on with the cork gasket it leaked like a seive so I took your suggestion and ordered the valve cover gaskets you noted. Do you suggest getting the metal valve cover "washers" (not sure what they are called) for the bolts in addition to the gaskets?

Yes, get the special washers. They really help distribute the load. I'm not sure what they're called either.

Side note: the main reason the Magnum engines went to 10 bolt covers is readily apparent to you now!

Spreaders. I put them on when I did the engine break in. I did have a very small leak about a quarter size drop. snugged up and it stopped. I would attribute the leak to the hard cardboard type gaskets that came with the kit. Since changed to the rubber gasket.
