I should have introduced myself to this awesome forum before jumping in asking for help for which I apologize. I was just so dang excited to find all this GREAT information to calm my nerves. Here's my long car story..

I lost my 2nd wife to domestic violence at the hands of her x husband whom also took the life of his one son leaving their older son to survive the tragedy ( two bullets through and through.. ) becoming my oldest of "My Three Sons".

This boy is a gear head from day one. His favorite, the poster above his bed, was of a 1970 Plum Crazy Purple CUDA. I read the local paper each day and always cruised the auto for sale back when that was the norm. There was a 70 Plum Crazy 440-6 pack for sale.. I bought it that morning as a HS graduation gift for him with the promise the car will be his if he were to graduate Purdue in the top 10% of his class ( big carrot but I also didn't think he'd do it.. I was right! ).

Car over heated on me three times getting home. That was 19 years ago. Over the years the car has had a NUMBER of specialist hands on it to address, total front end rebuild, rear gears rebuilt ( apparently you don't want "bolts" laying in the bottom of the gear pumpkin ) , steering gear box etc.. After a year long stint at a repair facility awaiting the gearbox, an old head like me came and setup the three duces bring that bad boy roaring back to life. Dallas weather can get a bit warm at certain times of year which this fine ride DOES NOT LIKE ending with long stretches of sitting idle. I need not tell this great group what that leads to over time.

I've retired and sold our family home with a 4 car garage to a 2 car. I told my boy either he finds a spot for the car at his home in suburbs of Chicago ( yup, lost that TX born and raised boy to Chicago area as result of Love ) or I was going to sell the car. He immediately arranged a local storage spot and although he is very capable and handles many projects with ease, he has a "expert" to help should he run into any major issues.

The car is a 3 speed automatic column shift bench seat barracuda with a replanted 440- six pack. It came with a center console and shifter ( slap stick ) that sat in the garage awaiting install. I've elected to compete the transition from column to floor shifter with bucket seats prior to shipping the car to Chicago. I think the ideal time for relocation to happen is in June. I'm hoping to complete this transition and a couple of other items over the next 45 days so that I may enjoy the car during our spring ( March- May ) before it's gone.

This forum has already been a big help. Unfortunately, I'll be coming back for more advice going forward.

Howdy and welcome from Colorado!

Do you have any pictures you can share of the car?
Would love to know some info on the car, especially since it's "just a 318" car.
