Cars are ok. Lots of debris on them. They are waiting for restoration and may just need more work now. Nothing more than small dents and scratches. The house may not be habital. Once power is restored, I can find out. We have mattresses that are so soaked the box springs are dripping. I went through this in 2005. All of my Mopar pictures and paperwork are stored in a waterproof case that is made for yachts. Nothing was damaged like it was in 2005. Right now we are sleeping in the front yard. It's difficult, but I have been through it before. As soon as we get power, we can start getting things back together. We are chomping at the bit. It is in the mid 80's with humidity around 85% at night. We want a/c. South Florida would not exist if there were no a/c.

All is well. We got power back today. I had to get a window unit a/c for now. The house needs a lot of work, but is livable for now. I did some repairs and basically turned it into a two room apartment. From here we can rebuild room by room. It needed remodled anyway. Disappointing thing is my restorations get pushed back another year.

Hey chal6pak
Glad that you and family ok and hope your dogs and cats survived the mess. We were consumed with watching the storm; have a lot of family in Florida. My brother lives north and he thought he would be ok, but was hit hard. Unfortunately, he lost the bottom part of a leg a few years back is slow in getting around. My mom in law who is 79 and in Boca. Condo was damaged and no electric (or ac) until Saturday. My brother in law/sister in law went to a shelter. House sustained some damage and still no power. He's in construction so he had a generator-which helped. My cousin in Palm Beach County; she owns a food truck for a living and it got damaged. We were scared for everyone. Glad you are ok and that's what is important. It will get better.

Wow. Your family did get it. I hope all works out well for them. Tell then to get to FEMA for help asap. Go through the FEMA site. They cover many things that I had no idea they would.

I pictured my friends home in the keys. Today she received these photos. This is what 12 feet of water and a sustained wind of over 100 mph does to a home. I see people posting on Facebook that only whimps evacuated. The truth is only the dead stayed.

Well I haven't been here for a while and to read this right off the bat brings things to a "real" mode. I came to check in on cars, parts, builds and stories. With all the storms that have hit you guys lately it should make those of us who aren't in these areas appreciate the things we sometimes take for granted. Where I live we can have some bad winters storms and occasionally large hail. But nothing that leaves a path of destruction like hurricanes and tornadoes. I can't even imagine how it feels. I wish the best to you and applaud your positive attitude for even thinking about "the restorations"! To you and all in the south, may all the luck and help of prayers be with you in these trying times.

Thank you. The family is ok. My pets and the rescues are ok. We will have to rebuild from here. I have a cousin in Ft. Myers that is still under water with caskets floating in her yard from a nearby cemetery. Another friend in the keys has a boat through what is left of her home. I consider myself fortunate. Here is the keys home.View attachment 44000

It will take months to get it all cleaned up. In my area the trash and vegetation for the last two months is the same amount as last years amount.

Just wow. That is unbelievable. If you don't see stuff like this you just can't realize the true effect of the situation.
