I need someone a lot more intelligent than myself to make a cam recommendation for the following. This is a hot street and strip car, automatic 727 trans (upgraded). Torque converter will be dependant on
final decision on camshaft. Want instantaneous off idle response. low end torque, more important than top end power. Want to thank all for any information about this quest.

This is an inquiry as to what would be the heart of my build (camshaft), which is as follows:

Mopar-callies block, bore 4.5 inches
Callies crank 4.25 Stroke
Heads Trickflow 270 With Max wedge ports 78cc chamber
Intake Mopar edelbrock 6 Pack modified and port matched for max wedge heads (I Know not the best choice, selfish reasons)
Carbs Modified Holly carbs with tune-able Jet type adjustment on all 3
Compression Ratio 10.5
Max lift on Heads .700
Harland Sharpe 1.6 Rockers
Diamond Pistons 24cc dish, valve pockets for .700 roller
Rear Gear 3.55

I can tell you my Comps Cam set up, runs well, and sounds terrible - if I had to do it all again, I wouldn’t choose Comps.

That is a pretty serious parts list. A hydraulic roller is going to really limit what you can get out of those 270 heads. I think a solid roller is more appropriate. Several of the good cam grinders have online forms you can put your combo and desired usage into and they'll come back with a recommendation. The ones that don't have a form, like Schneider, will answer the phone and talk you through the same questions. I just went through this for a solid roller for my 340 build and I got suggestions back from five grinders and three of them were similar in spec so I would pick one of those three. If you are worried about adjusting valves, it really isn't a thing anymore with good rockers. You better be ready with all the details on head specs, flow, and springs if you have them.

Thanks for the information, from all. FWI I wanted to run a solid roller, but questioned myself about the aggressive opening and closing
ramp on some solid roller cams. I already have and will use solid roller lifters (Isky Solid bushed). I am getting a little paranoid about valve
train I guess. Thanks again for all info. Great site with a welth of information.
