Anyone heard of 'em? I'm in need of a car trailer and was looking at some online. Found Kaufman's. Seems like a good price for what they're offering.

This is what I'm looking at:

http://www.kaufmantrailers.com/heav...R---21-ft.-Diamond-Floor-Car-Trailer-p66.html

The GVW is a little more than what I really need, but I like to spec out a bit bigger than what's needed knowing that it'll take the lighter stuff easy and be there to haul anything heavier. Twenty-one foot puts it at right around the length I'd like, but I can go 23' and 25' for up to $500 more.

Any feedback?

Iv'e seen those trailers around for a while. Good quality. As for my 2 cents, I would upgrade to the deluxe model. The extra for radial tires, LED lighting and sealed wiring harness are well woth it.If you have ever towed a trailer, it is a dream with radials and they are more common if you need one on the road. LED lights last forever and are much brighter with lower power draw. I would buy a spare tire/wheel and get one long enough for a tool box and electric winch. It is always better and more economical to get a little more than you need , than to not have enough. What are you going to use as a tow vehicle ?

Looks pretty nice and I agree with Leo on the added length for the tool box and winch, the extra money would be soaked up quickly in time saving.
Plan for one long enough to haul a big C-body or an Imperial in case you ever find one you fall in love with like I did!

Thanks for the input guys.

I was considering some of the upgrades, especially the LED lighting and the sealed harness. With a trailer sitting so low, the brightness of the LED's makes sense and the sealed harness seems like a no-brainer, considering the weather here in upstate.

I'm thinking of going with the 25 footer for several reasons. I'm not a fan of short trailers when it comes to applications like this.
Longer trailers back up easier and the extra room for things like tool boxes and winches help. The extra room for chains and straps help, too. It's harder, in my opinion, to keep short chains tight.

This trailer will also be used to borrow my buddy, Lew's, small Kubota loader with the brush hog attached, so the extra length to make sure it all fits on the trailer and doesn't overhang will help, too. Later on, it might see use to haul my 9N around to shows. That's also one of the reasons I'm looking at a full deck. Lew's Kubota is narrow and doesn't usually fit on open deck trailers.

For now the primary tow vehicle will be my '89 F150 4x. Later on it'll split duty with my '78 F250 2x. I'll be investing in a weight distribution hitch for it, too.

I've never heard of those trailers Robert, but that doesn't mean anything. All I know is I bought a 18' dovetail to haul the racear, and I wish I would have bought a 20' dovetail. Oh well, that seems to be the way it goes! LOL!

Sounds like a good plan to me. It also never hurts to ask for a discount. The worst that can happen is they say no. But you never know until you try. Good luck, you deserve it.

Pulled the trigger

Order it (finally, after some back and forth on the finances) Monday.

Went with 23' and went ahead and coughed up the extra money for the deluxe model. For the price of the deluxe over the standard it just made sense, especially with the sealed harness, being in upstate NY where the salt likes to eat things. Plus, the deluxe came with stake pockets already installed, meaning I can build sides for it and turn it into a large utility trailer.

Took delivery today. Shipped from North Carolina. Kinda fun, since the local lumber yard who said they could pick it off the stack for me realized once it go here it was a little too big for their small tow motor. Luckily a local contractor came into the store while I was making phone calls to the local marinas and offered up his big one.

Also bought a bunch of lumber to build sides for it, so my car trailer can go to one big utility trailer in just a few minutes.
