Anyone using the Street Demon carb? I am swapping out a TQ. Street Demon not matching up with kickdown very well. I believe the linkage I have is stock for 72 model small block with 727 and TQ. No linkage problems with TQ. I am using the throttle stud from TQ and got the Chrysler throttle adapter bracket for the Street Demon. Secondaries open with no linkage but can't fully open with kickdown attached. I moved the slotted rod to other side of pivot arm for better alignment on throttle stud but still need about an inch of travel. Could probably increase the length of slot in slotted rod but want to see what others are doing before I get caught up in mods and fabrication.

Every time I swap to a different type of carb and/or intake, it seems like I have to make a special rod for the throttle. I normally use the three piece kickdown linkage but see you have the one piece. Regardless, I think you're going to have to extend your slotted rod/arm. On the three piece set up, the throttle rod has a threaded adjustment to find tune the correct length. Not sure how you'd get that fine adjustment with your rod/arm.

The alternative is to go with an aftermarket cable system like Lokar. With the Lokar, I can change to any carb I want and it is a simple adjustment to get it just right.

True, the Lokar cable is great and will work well. My issue is that it makes the car look too Chevy! 😁 Which is why I prefer modifying the three piece factory kickdown linkage. But the cable might work better for others.

72 Barracuda: I have this set-up but it's not mounted to the engine, since I don't have my engine from the machine shop. I also read your post and am concerned. I sent an e-mail to LOKAR about my situation this morning. Prior I bought these brackets thinking they would work from 521 restorations: I have images of the dry-fit (below) If I hear anything from LOKAR I will keep you posted.
-- Oh, BTW I have a 72 Barracuda as well! Cheers!!!!

To me, the bracketry looks look's kind of weird, but maybe some tweaking it'll go together. As far as throttle spring kits, O'Reilly's has multi-spring kits to get a good set-up.
-- The aft LH kickdown bracket you have left my possession when I sold my complete 318LA.
-- I can't get ahold of the guy I sold it to here in Ogden UT.

Got a reply from Holley:
Unfortunately we do not have any way to connect the stock kickdown linkage rod to the Street Demon carburetor. In order to use our kickdown cable for the 904, you would also need to use our Street Demon bracket and Lokar throttle cable. The part number for the 904 kickdown cable is KD-2904HT and the throttle cable would be TC-1000HT. To mount both of these cables you will use the TCB-40SD which is specifically designed for the Street Demon. I would however suggest that you contact Mancini Racing to see if they might be aware of something that is on the market that would allow you to use the factory kickdown linkage rod. Please feel free to call me at 877-469-7440 ext 8900 if I can be of further assistance to you.

That's a good reply from Holley, actually. I would up making my own kickdown linkage. Three piece factory works very well and you just have to modify the top carb linkage.
