Need help identifying a Rube Goldberg part

My photographic memory has run out of film. When taking apart my 71 Cuda, I recall this part being "overengineered" and thought I wouldn't forget where this went because it was so funny. I guess they pay these engineers to come up with Rube Goldberg parts. However, now I can't remember what this was for. Any help on where this part goes would be greatly appreciated.

The rubber looks like a glove box bumper
