Need help identifying this on my 73 hood..

Yeah, they probably are an after the fact add on but it would be an injustice if I was to remove them only to find out they were part of some super rare factory option or installed by a reputable dealer that had options that are now considered valuable like Norms or somebody. I havent looked at the broadcast sheet in over 20 years, guess Ill dig it out and see if it can shed any light.

Anyone know of any other sources I could inquire to?

Do you have any way of tracking down previous owners maybe they can shed some light on this? I`m thinking whatever was there was something that a previous owner had done.

Like I said, I talked to the second and they were on there when he bought it and he said the car was bone stock. I tried to track down the first owner but there was a mess up with the title and DMV didnt have his info. Do you know of any other way to find the first owner?

Going try and bring the ole Chally home this spring and start a revival. Bringing this back to the top to see if anyone has an idea? Im going to try and get some more pics of the part in question...

Hmmm? Maybe it was a Monday hood. A little hung over and Oups. Just stick a plug in it and redrill it.

Take the emblems off and stick a 440 Sixpack or 426 Hemi emblem on, I bet the holes will line right up. I did the same thing to my Challenger hood in 1978 when I pulled the 383 and installed a 440 Six pack. Owner 1 might have been a poser on yours.

Im very familiar with a 70 440-6 Chally, my uncle had one and the emblem insnt even close. The engine emblems have the cast pieces that go through the hole in the hood. This is a plastic rivet that looks like it had something adhered to it? Im going ahead with Govier, I think hes gonna be the best bet. Or maybe that guy on Graveyard Cars, he knows everything right? lol

There is nothing factory Mopar like that mounted there. Someone had something there. I wouldn't go crazy over it.

I also doubt very seriously the factory would have done that but every once in a while youll hear about a car being modified by an outside source like Norms, Yenko, etc and it adds value. Im not looking for a pot of gold just would hate to fill something in that may have some history.

The reason the cars from Norms and Yenko are valuable is because they were a package of performance and, many times, visual enhancements to a car. They weren't something bolted to a hood.

Might not be right emblem for hood. Your pics are too close to really tell, because not enough hood is showing, but emblems don't look centered on that hood. People on Ebay are selling two different part numbers of emblems. Some and in 246, and others end in 247. I have 73 parts catalog, and it calls for the 247. Lower part number may be for those earlier hoods without crumple zones, and be shorter. Someone may have replaced them with the wrong ones.
