I just recently drug home a 71 r/t challenger, FE5 340 3-speed manual. The car has rust in driver floor, trunk floor, and inner front fenders. The original engine and trans are gone but I was given a correct 340 and 3-speed. The car is somewhat complete but most parts need restored to do any kind of decent resto. My question is about the value and what the 3-speed adds or detracts from the overall value. It has a nice build sheet and the sheet shows it should have painted wheels and the dog-dish. When I told a friend of the 3-speed he said only 40 were built this way and maybe just a few were red. If I go on with the rest it will get a 4-speed. Any thoughts?

I believe there is a thread on here that gives the value on the cars. Do a search on car values.

+2 On the pics, it's also about personal preference, what may be worth lots to you may be worth nothing to someone else, keep that in mind.

Looked it up in GGs book and it shows only 34 built with the 3 speed. That's pretty rare, unfortunately I don't think that the 3 speed option no matter how rare will make it worth more to most. I think it's pretty kool though and would love to see some pics also. Really can't even guesstimate a cars value without seeing a few pics at least.

That's kinda what I was looking for. Sometimes rare doesn't mean desirable. I will get some pics but it is buried in the shop now. I guess body color wheels are almost nonexistent in '71 also. Thanks Matt
