:usa2: The cap is missing the rubber cover and clip. Also it is a cover and not a cap. Special cap required to go under cover. Nice shape though. Just letting the buyer know that it is not complete.

no problemo, Leo the other parts were separate and not included when buying the cover as was the ring from what I can remember. I haven't had an E-body in 20 years. Not sure what this is worth (eye of beholder, I guess). I saw what were going for on ebay 375 to 500 which makes me pucker and why I left OBO out there. I would like it to find a good home outside of my closet.

With all of the repops out now for $105.00 with the rubber seal $200.-300. is probably about the going price now. I would probably inform whoever buys it that you may have the extra parts available. If not, they are readily available. I have both a repop and a new N.O.S cover. The repops are an excellent copy, nice and sharp castings, but I think the chrome is better on the factory N.O.S. piece. IMO

You do see that NONE of those caps on eBay got any bids, not even the one for $250. The reproductions are real nice. The last one that I had barely sold for $200.

NOS flip tops made from the late 80's and later did NOT have the rubber seal & clip. The seal is only useful if you have an actual factory locking cap anyway. My $.02

The Fliptop cap cover may not have come with the seal and the clip on the 80's or whatever years New Old Stock or NS1 parts were, but that wasn't the point. We should at least pass on a little of our knowledge as to what these parts were and what they were intended to be used for. Like that they are only actually correct on 7O & 71 models. And that the actual 70 and 71 caps ( not the cover)are not the same and don't interchange. Some people might have been using the fliptop cover alone not knowing it also needs the cap to be safe. I am sure you could give me a big lesson on shift handles if I was contemplating changing from stock. I would want to know the ins and outs so I could make an informed decision.

That was after I posted, and MOST don't sell for that. That guy just got screwed! Esp considering the one $100 cheaper had not sold. I guess if you wait long enough you may find a sucker! :icon_joker:
