I ordered the 6qt hemi pan and 4 1/2 pickup tube from 440 Source , the pickup tube in snug is more like 4 1/4 and the pan is 5 in . I can get it to 4 1/2 but the tube is not tight , with the extra oil in the pan , 7 qrts , is it ok to be 3/4 to a 1/2 in. off the pan bottom , thanks again for any info .

What Cryco said. The pickup should touch or just about touch the bottom of the pan. I would call 440source and discuss your issue with them.

I just wasn't sure about the extra oil in a bigger pan if it could be higher off the bottom of the pan , I might just return it and just go with the 402 pan I have , im sure it's fine for weekend cruising.

I've got a similar current issue. I just plan on a little bend to make it work. I bought the 6 qt pan and pickup that 440 source recommended, along with their stroker windage tray. All three pieces are going to take some work to make them fit. The stroker tray touches the center of the pan so it doesn't sit flush against the block, and the pickup doesn't fit through the slot in the tray that they say it will. I'll make it work, and it will take less than an hour, but it certainly isn't as good as their descriptions say it is.

Yes I agree , Im new to this mechanic engine stuff so Im learning alot from everyone here , I did have to cut out a hole in the wingage tray for the bend in the tube , mine is from Summit with the gasket attached to the tray and Im just going to use the 5qt ''402'' pan , the tube matches perfectly to that pan .

......I'll make it work.........

Out of the box, what if you shorten up the tube and add such as this for the necessary length?

I'll tell 'ya what is so frustrating to me; we buy (expensive) parts and they don't fit without alteration. Seems the norm these days.
