I have a 72 SB 727 off of a 318 E body and was wondering what it would take to convert it to a BB 727 E body for a 440? I have a 79 BB empty mobile home bell housing I can use.

Assuming you have an empty BB 727 case, everything internal from the SB 727 (328) can be used in the BB case. Keep in mind, a lot (not all) BB 727 had 4 clutch (sometimes 5!) discs and 4 Pinion planetary gears where the SB 727 could only 3 clutches and 3 pinion planetary gears. In short, most of the BB 727s were beefier than the small blocks. But all 727s are better than anything made by GM or Ford!!

Yup, that will work. You can use everything from the SB 727 to complete the BB 727. Pick up a Master Transmission Kit that has new gaskets, seals, rings, clutches and steels. Should work fine behind a mild 440.
