Sending unit not sealing with new rubber washer

Was having a new sending unit installed on my 1971 Challenger and we could not get a tight seal on either the old gasket or new gasket? Any ideas on how to seal this?

I bought that pair just in case my originals didn’t seal. My 50+ year old gasket/ring are still holding and leak free.

DMT does solid stuff. I bought their hood to cowl seal and the clips were already installed. No fighting to get them in like the last one.

Normal , poor quality aftermarket parts will not seal properly
