A salute to all that have served and a salute to all the families that had a loss for our gain.. Keeping us safe as we work, play and sleep.

I think there is something wrong with me. I miss days like this. Being with shipmates that have your 6 no matter what. And ready to go above and beyond the call of duty for the brothers in arms.
My father severed on the USS Forrestal CVA 59 in 56 with the shake down cruise.
Two sisters one Air force and Marines and a niece served in the navy. A cousin served in Vietnam. My better 7/8 of me,my spouse's sister served at NORAD. And there were and are others. .

Ah yes nothing like 40 to 60 foot breakers across your bow coming back thru the north Atlantic in late November on flat bottomed LST... Can't believe I didn't puke.

I think in 72 OCT - NOV We were going around cape Hatteras. The signal bridge was 60' from the water line. A lot of times there was 2' of water passing over the signal bridge. When I was on switch board watch I was also watch the Inclinometer swing from 30-31 Degrees. Capsize at 33. Got relived for dinner. Stokes was the cook's made very good meals. I think everybody remembers the cook. There were pills for sea sickness but I never took them. I wish I would have that time. The pork chops were very good going down. I wasn't sick they just wouldn't stay down. That's the only time that happened. An LST I have to salute you. What a ride. It's like driving a car that has 2x4's for shocks.

Keeping the happy spirit of veterans day. There is something that happened the first week of boot camp at camp Barry. We all got to know every in the company. Then we all got hair cuts. We just stared at each other as if we were all strangers. I was hilarious! Remember the hair back in the 60s-70s

On anther note. The area where I live. There was his mother that recognized her son by his back side.

A salute to him
