I had the shingles shot when I turned sixty. This year my doctor at the VA said the shots wear off. Now they use a two phase shot that lasts till death do us part. Had the first phase in the fall and will get the second shot this spring.
Had a conversation with a doctor several years ago that had a patient who committed suicide over a bad case of the shingles.
Shingrix is the new vaccine. A double dose, that in theory, helps having the virus to occur/reoccur. This is the vaccine my doctor recommended.

Note the age to which it is recommended to use this vaccine.
My only problem is, society tells us that mercury is dangerous to handle (Or to be in close proximity to). Thimerosal, a binding agent used in most vaccines, is exactly that...Mercury. I will admit, I am confused about this. Read article after article of some devastating after effects of some vaccines. Noted that most flu vaccines are useless as an example (who knows what they'll find with Shingrix in the long run). I just don't know?
Yet, here I sit with my back itching to beat the band!
