Im getting confused on where or what rebuild kit i need for my Trans. I have a 1970 barracuda with a three speed on the floor. 318 car. I have the casting numbers if that helps.
I agree with Aussimark totally, it may not be stock but its a very simple installation and you'll see much better midrange pull with the closer gears.
Plus the pistol grip does look C.A.F.
If funds won't allow that and you want to rebuild your 3 speed then Brewers are the people to go to, they can supply parts and great experience for any Mopar manual trans.
If saving cash is what you're all about I can tell you with certainty " If you know the difference between the open end and box end of a wrench, you can rebuild the tranny yourself." Start with a good kit, a new modern shifter body, and a decent set of instructions. I followed a 12 part series on YouTube, bought quality parts and saved myself $800. I do not know why so many people think they can't do this task. Maybe lack of confidence but by "gosh, by golly" it's
a really easy task.
I have never bought a kit for the 3 spd but I assume any drivetrain shop should be able to get you a kit for it with all new syncros , brgs , gaskets , seals etc , I have bought numbers of them for the 833 .
Doing the rebuild is easy but you need a couple of tools to do it , special snap ring pliers & a dummy shaft to load the counter shaft into the case
Well as i call numerous suppliers the kit is proving to be quite rare. Its almost like the a-230 is a dying breed. people list it but its out of stock everywhere
