I too owned a number of BMW 3 series cars starting the the 1980's. They attracted my attention because they were one of the few performance oriented convertible cars that you could buy at the time with a stick shift and rear wheel drive. I really hated the front wheel drivers popular at the time (torque steer driving felt so different compared to the rear drive Challenger's I was used to)
They were my commuter cars when gas prices went nuts and I kept my last Mopar; Challenger A66 vert in garage storage.
The BMW's were quick and fun to drive; today's versions are really less of a driver car then the earlier cars.
Just my thoughts and opinion.
